New cue from Mason

Firstly, that is one nice looking cue you got there!

Could you elaborate on what you meant by the hard hit? Were you referencing the stiffness of the shaft? Or something else? Maybe you could compare it to another cue's feel so I could understand better?

Thanks and grats on the new stick!

I mean it hits hard. Shafts are fairly stiff, and the cue hits hard. Lot of feedback to the hands. Not a soft feeling hit.

What don't you understand, maybe that would help to explain it.

my wife and i walk around the house saying that all day any chance we get.i have to actually stop myself sometimes out in public from saying it out loud.love that show and it really is shocking how many chances you can actually get in a day to say,"that's what she said"

You didn't even credit me with the quote!!!

Here's another blackwood cue .. the one on the right with maple handle.

My Mason Houghland cue

Hello:

I picked up a very nice cue from Mason Houghland. The cue was listed as:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=174793
The pictures don't do the beautiful woods used any justice. It is MUCH nicer in person and if we ever get nice weather again here in Germany than I might try to take some pictures outdoors.
Well, what should I say. I absolutely love the cue! It just plays great!
I love the shaft wood used. Both are straight grained with 20+ growth rings. The yellow micarta ferrules feel nice and the amount of deflection feels natural to me. I like the feeling of both tips, but the Kamui Black tip seems a little more right to me. I might have a new standard tip!
The joint is really nice and tight. I always thought that these flat grooved joint screw create a superior feel in a cue. The ring work is also very nice. The balance point is quiet forward but I believe it is not easily compared to other cues because the cue is 1/2" shorter at a length of 57.5".
However, I have to say that I really love the balance, sound and feel of the cue. If I'm forced to criticize anything about this cue (and Germans ALWAYS have to criticize something) than I believe that a joint protector for the butt end should be a mandatory add-on of any custom cue and the transition region from finished to unfinished shaft wood could be a little more even. But these are really small details.
Mason, thanks for this nice player!

Michael
