New Cue!!!

Roger...I'm curious. The Joss is a fine mass produced cue...but do you have any idea where exactly that they are made?;)

Why don't you just tell me where they're made?

Oh let me guess, you're going to tell me that they're made in some sweat shop in indonesia or southern China...Which doesn't automatically disqaulify them from being good cues, btw; that would depend on tolerances and materials, neither of which have anything to do with location per se.

If that is the case, I'll ask you to prove it. As far as I know they're made right here in America, in Jane's shop in Maryland.

Regardless of where they are made, you can't do any better than a Joss for under 150 bucks. They're better cues, imo, than any other production cue and just about any "custom" sneaky pete some amateur slaps together in their garage with their toy lathe and Cue-Building 101 video. They are solidly constructed, built to very tight tolerances from a cuemaker that's been in the game for decades and the wood selection is outstanding for the price range.

Another vote for Joss, what's that make 5 or 6 now?.

I play with a Joss, turned the shaft down to 12.75 and it's spectacular. Get a nice plain one, no inlays, it'll hit better and cost less.:)

I'd play with a Richard Harris $150 hustler cue, but I'm not sure if one exists. If someone has one for sale, pm me please.

Not really true that it'll hit better. It's an old saw that cues with no points/inlays hit better because the butts aren't "cut". Tim Scruggs told me this years and years ago. Points actually make the cue more stonger, not weaker. If you were talking plain w/points, then ignore.

Among the many factors that contribute to a cue's feel, (short spliced) points vs. no points play a very minor role. I would argue that only with the deepest of V-points (cues from skip, mottey, etc) would it make the slightest difference in hit.

Joss do not cut V-groove points; their "points" are flat-bottomed, CNCed inlays...and would not contribute to either feel or rigidity in the forearm in any way.

They are made in Maryland. About 15 mins away from me. See my post two above your's that I quoted.

Plus, having actually been to Jane's shop and met Dan Jane's I can confirm 100 percent that it is not a sweatshop and he has no immigrant minors working for a nickel an hour there. It happens to be next to one of my favorite strip clubs :D

Joss cues are as close to custom as it gets without actually going custom. I gotta get one of his sneakys sometime soon.
