I have access to a CnC machine, as well as a cuemakers lathe... I was wanting to learn how to build cues, not for production or sales, but for myself. I do not have any knowledge of cuemaking, but want to get started....obviously my first project should be a sneaky pete, but how do i learn how to build my first 3 peice cue? Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
What kind of lathe setup? That may help some people to give you some advice to start out with, and how to go about It. Ofcoarse getting your hands on some videos may help to give you an idea of how things can be done also.

Maybe he means assembling a butt from three pieces; forearm, handle and sleeve.

yeah, i did mean assembling a 3 piece butt....im not sure what kinda lathe setup it is, b/c i just know the guy has it sitting there...lol...ill ask tho. Does anyone have any videos or anything to help? maybe an online tutorial?

The question that comes to my mind is who has that equipment just sitting around?
Does he know how to use it and would he be willing to help you.
Is the equipment maintained, and have all the tooling you will need?

Have you thought of buying Chris Hightower's book and looking thru it?
Perhaps a video or two.

If the equipment is still in working order with all the tooling I would go for a cue kit from Chris Hightower as my first cue. Call him and see what he has.
