New Diamond Pro Am Next Week!!!!

I've been a lurker here for a while. Finally created an account and decided to post. I've been looking at tables for a while and just bought a new Diamond Pro Am 7' bar box. Delivery next week. I can't wait for it to get here! I had an Olhausen 8' in the past. Never liked the table. Felt dead, didn't like the small 8' layout, and just wasn't happy with it. It barely got played on. So, I sold it. I didn't want to take an entire room for a big 8 or a 9' table, so we just put furniture in the room as a basement living room. Again, never got used. Then, I got a clog in my septic line a few months back and it backed up. I had to file an insurance claim and we ended up re-doing our basement. New floor, new paint, etc. Also cleared out all the stuff we didn't really want down there to begin with. In renovating, we decided to make the space exactly what we wanted it to be. Game room, workout area and a movie room in the fully enclosed dark room. So, that's what we're doing. First order of business was a new pool table. I grew up playing on both full size Brunswick tables and both Valley and Diamond bar box tables. As much as I like a big table, I always find myself gravitating toward a bar box. I just love playing 9 ball on a bar table. I looked at both 7 and 8' Olhausen's again, and found some pretty ones...especially the Breckenridge. But, as soon as I hit a few balls on them, I had that same old feeling again....it was furniture with a pool table on top. I just didn't love it. I convinced myself to go to a small sports bar about 30 minutes away this week and played a few racks on a Diamond Pro Am while having lunch. As soon as I walked out, I decided that's the only table I wanted. So, I ordered it. Delivery is next week and I can't wait. I've read a ton of information on here on tables, and gotten a lot of good ideas and reviews. In the end, while there are tables made for everyone, I either wanted a Pro 8 Gold Crown or a 7' bar box. So, I'm getting exactly what I wanted and I am ecstatic about it getting here. Now I just have a find a good flush mount light that won't block off tv viewing, and a good floor rack for cues. We are near Athens, GA, so we'll have a heavy Georgia Bulldogs theme, mixed in with some other sports teams, in the basement. Ready for this to finally come together. I'm about to live in my basement more than I do upstairs.

Also renovating my dart board cabinet and bought a nice air hockey table for the kids for Christmas. So, it's going to be fun down there.

I bought this for my shop space. I think it would work perfectly for a 7' Diamond.

Well, that's a LOT cheaper than the 1x5 Littman I've been looking at all night. I'll check it out. I do want the area to look finished and not "half-assed", so I'm willing to spend some money. My problem last time is that I cut corners and it ended up just being an awkward basement area with a pool table in it. This time, I want it to be exactly what I want.

Congratulations on your basement and new table. When I lived in Michigan, we had a GC4 in the basement and I miss it badly.

Got confirmation on delivery for this Thursday. I'm really excited to get the table in the house. My 12 yr old boy is excited, too, and keeps asking when it'll be here. I can already say that I'll never own a furniture table again. As nice as they may be, they just don't play the same. If I ever get rid of this Diamond, it'll be for a larger table, or an older Gold Crown. Ideally, I'd love to have both a Pro 8 Gold Crown and a 7' bar box Diamond in my basement. But, that's a dream for after kids are gone. Not enough room right now, for sure.

I had an 8' Olhausen with 860hr for 5 years before I bought a 7' Diamond Pro-Am. I do not ever miss the Olhausen. The Diamond plays way better despite being 1' smaller. You're gonna love it.

What table light do you have over your table? I'm looking at both Diamond lights and Littman lights, and I like the way the littman sits really close to the ceiling. I'm trying to not block view of a tv in the room, too.

Amazon sells flush to ceiling mounts for any standard 2x4 led panel. About $30. They are made of extruded aluminum and painted white. I have them over my table.
