New Dominiak Kielwood Blanks

Why would Kiel have lower deflection than a Predator with hollowed end ?
I have a custom 30" Joss LD shaft that I'd stack up against any carbon fiber I've hit with, and I have 4 of those.
2 expensive and 2 lower end cf shafts and I can't tell much diff between any of them.
The tip plays a crucial role in how CF Shafts hit, Imo. The harder the tip, the better the feedback.
Otherwise, it's lost in all those layers of soft leather. For me, soft layered tips act as a shock absorber, in effect cancelling out the very feel and feedback so important to me as I gauge my pocketing speed and spin in accordance with said feedback.
If my cue doesn't resonate, I can't judge my shot... But that's just me.
(Maybe I should ask the Dr. to increase my meds.) 🤣🤣

Just got this in the mail. Haven't had a chance to finish it yet. Always hard to find time to work on your own cue lol. But, it looks really great! Excited to see how it hits! This is the first radial laminated Kielwood shaft I've seen. He sells them in different grades all the way to ready to sand profiles. Pics really don't do it justice. More after I put a joint, tip ferrule on it. View attachment 741016View attachment 741017View attachment 741018View attachment 741019View attachment 741020
Question...
Rather than the pie shaped pieces, have you considered stacking them?? Similar to what Bob did back in the 80s with those old black dots?? Curious as to how layering might hit vs the other. Always looking for finer feedback and better resonance thru a shaft.
Perhaps one day, you or someone like you will produce a shaft similar a string instruments' body, with tonal qualities and vibrational aspects similar to the finest violins, guitars, etc... Now that's some feedback I could enjoy playing with!!👍🏻
Got my phalanges crossed. Lol.🤞
No. The Dr. didn't increase my meds.
(Perhaps he should??)🤣🤣

I've built a bunch of shafts with Bob Danielson's radial kielwood blanks and I definitely prefer laminated over straight kielwood.
Dominiak has always been great for me to deal with too, I'm sure you'll like the blanks.
Has anyone tried stacking the kielwood?? Similar to what Meucci did in the 80s w those old black dots??
Would there be any benefit in doing so??
Seems like layering would produce an even higher tensile than radial. I'm not a cuemaker. Just curious and hoping you guys can provide the answer.
