New Dynaspeheres Set

you can still find the bronze sets.

if these turn out just as good and look like the centennials then its an easy change over. as all their balls are really cheap to buy.
whenever i've looked they are 'out of stock'. they were replaced over a yr ago by the Vanadiums which is same set with different cb. these new balls are not like Centennials other than the standard colors.

then the object balls would be nicked as well . the cue ball doesn't go in a hole often.

i still vote for a counterfeit cue ball. as it wasnt what came with a set.
afaik they come in shrink-wrapped sealed boxes. I don't think its a fake cb, far more likely its damage from the table or off a concrete floor.

west state billiards shows them and fort worth billiards,
not at ft worth, out of stock. they have their replacement the Vanadiums. Same ball with a different cueball. west state doesn't show either set. look, there are a few sets of Bronze scattered about but they were discont. over a yr ago and replaced with the Van.

Which cue ball is it? Do you have any photos of the damage? I am curious.

The Challenger set is a full phenolic resin. Some of the other sets are a hybrid (Dynaphex) resin.
I'll post a pic when I get a chance. Had it all wrapped up back up for return, but if it helps someone make a decision on what to buy, then I'll unwrap that bad boy.

Something doesn't sound right. I've been using a Dynaspeheres cue ball on my home table for the past 2+ years with no issues and our BCA League has been using Dynaspheres Bronze sets for 3 years without issue. What kind of table to you have? Did the cue ball ever come in contact with a concrete or tile floor?
The only thing I did with them was played on a big diamond with ball return. I have hard tips that we're leaving marks, but those all wiped off w a little spit. These are actual pieces of the finish that popped off. I tried using 3000 thinking they were spots from my tips, but that didn't work. Grabbed a mag glass so I could see what was what.
I'll post a pic asa I can.

You said Seyberts, right? Cause i got bored and called them. Said they've had zero problems or returns on any Dyna ball. I'm still not goin for it. Balls hitting each other will not chip them. Had to have hit a screw/nail/etc.

Has to be a protruding piece of metal somewhere in the ball return.

Look, I'm not trying to knock any product or courage or discourage anything here. Just stating what I know to be true. I didn't break with it and yes, some of the pockets I these diamonds could use attention, but I still think a phenolic ball should appear like this after one use. Here's the pics. I hope they're self explanatory.
After all this blowback, I may just keep the damn thing. Rather not have to waste any more time explaining myself.

Those appear to be miniscule cracks. Idk. I'm not well versed in custom cues balls. I bought this one bcuz everyone was raving about dynas in another thread.
That's the only reason.
I don't see any of this on the standard Aramith. Give it time. If there's something in the pockets or in a ball return, I'll know soon enuf. Then it becomes a discussion w the hall owner.

That pic on the left is obviously from a screw/nail head. Its not a ball issue its a table issue. If you can't fade 'blowback' on a open pool forum don't post.

maybe the kids or someone plays when he isnt around.
or you got a counterfeit ball from wherever you ordered it from.

but it is easily remedied just buy another cue ball.

and why would you buy a low line set of balls in the first place.
Best blow up I can get.

Very possible the object balls are nicked too.
Had a brainstorm and used a dry erase marker to color the chips. If they weren't thru the outer coating, none of the color would stick. It wipes right off. You can clearly see the color inside the nick's.
Phenolic or resin if the table has nails or any other metal exposed that can come in contact with the balls your going to get chips and scratches.

Is phenolic mre durable and play better? Absolutely!
I agree.

Had a brainstorm and used dry erase marker to darken the spots. It wipes right off, unless it sinks past the outer coating like this.

Check all the photos I uploaded throughout the thread. Got smart at the end and used a dry erase marker to darken in the bad spots.
I wasn't trying to knock a product or any of that. This was just my experience with this particular cue ball. Wasn't dropped, didn't break with it and I'm surprised I'm having to defend myself in such a manner. Be the last time I post a product review on AZ.

you are not the one being attacked here. the ball is. and some think including me it was something that did it you probably couldn't realize.

it either came that way, very possible.
or something in the table chipped or scratched it
or someone else when you were not there or not looking did something that caused it.

in any case the cue balls have been very good and not seen a problem like that.

seems they are all basically the same sets just a different color for some. i even have one of their horrible tournament colored ones i never used but thought i should get familiar with them as they may end up in pool rooms where i may play. but they didnt.

but for a 100 bucks i keep sets in my cars just in case i am where the balls are crap and i feel like playing.

i dont agonize over the balls generally or the cue ball just like i dont worry about which golf ball i hit. or brand of cue stick. or chalk.
to each his own.

Not the same balls. Vanadium balls have larger numbers and are in the center of the stripes.
