New forum rules/restrictions?

I've heard several people here mentioning some "thread delays" and approvals by moderators for their first few posts. I never had any issues with posting from my very first posts? I'm just interested why it has changed? Are there some other rule changes as well?

I don't know about this being applied here on AZB specifically, but I do know it's a common practice on many forums, I even use it on mine. It is a pretty good way of filtering and catching spammers. You can usually tell from the 1st post what the new member has in mind, and while it may be a slight inconvenience for the new member who's anxious to get involved, 1st post moderation is a very good thing for the forum in general and I personally commend Mike and company for it's implementation here.

Yeah it's a great idea :) Knowing this forum, I'm sure they already caught some serious trolls and lunatics...
 
I had a hell of a time getting through my first five posts,as I kept being told I "could not post any links in my first 5 posts," even though I never posted a link.It was a real PIA

Unfortunately, it doesn't always catch the trolls. But a troll can't help itself, if it is a bar-box-8-ball-rules-troll, it will try and hide and then pop its ugly little head out real slow and next thing you know, you got ram shots all over the damn place.

There are those? I have to admit a few users felt kinda strange and suspicious in some previous debates I had. I gotta be careful next time a post a bar related thread. Thanks for input :thumbup:

By the way, can somebody please tell me what R.A.M. shots are? I'm really sorry, but I honestly never heard of those.

the point would be, who cares. most forums have a breaking in period why should here be any different. there have been more than a few trolls lately who have tried to make this place home and the mods are just responding.
people need to just take the break in period in stride and when they don't disply troll like behavior they'll be fine. that is until thier little troll hearts can't help it anymore and they open the great sack of douchebaggery:D
