new game.. point for calling the next shot

looking for feedback.. i'm a high average player and play pool with others sharing similar skills. we developed rules for a game similar to 14.1, except a point is given for calling the next shot. as in, the oncoming player must call the ball and pocket, not of the shot being taken, but the next one. this requires the skill to control the cue ball, etc.. this was developed as a training tool, but has developed into a game of its own. other rules are: dropping a ball on the break shot only keeps the breaker on the table. player stays on as long as he is pocketing balls, doesn't have to get called shot. scratches / fouls are -1 point. when it is not possible to continue calling balls, balls are racked.

Some questions:

(1) After the break (or when you come to the table after your opponent misses): If you are only calling the next ball, does that mean that you can slop in the first ball?

(2) BIH after a scratch/foul?

(3) If an object ball goes off of the table is it spotted or does it go down?

(4) Is 13 the most points you can make on a rack if you break (i.e., if you break and make one ball and run off the rest)? And, is 14 points the max. if your opponent breaks and makes no balls? Or, is that a max. of 12 and 13 points respectively since the last ball on the table is never shot in and always reracked?

(5) If you are the last shooter in a rack and the balls are reracked, do you break (so you have a chance to continue your run) or does your opponent break?

Hillbilly and I use to play a game similar to 14.1 only his handicap was that he had to call the next two balls and couldn't change his selection.

It's an interesting handicap.

you can slop in any ball to continue, including off the break. as long as a ball is legally pocketed (no foul), the player continues. this allows for some luck, as in 9-ball, altough there is no specific ball than needs to be hit, as in 9-ball.

(2) BIH after a scratch/foul??

BIH after any usual foul (rail, double hit, ball off table etc.). no head string rule. penalty of 1 point is assesed agains the fouler.

all pocketed balls stay down.

13 is the most points in a rack for a break and run, otherwise 14 as you write.

whoever leagally pockets the last ball breaks, even though it may not be a point ball.

the game runs to a set point limit, as in 14.1.

Did i miss anything?

this is a lot of fun for a couple of reasons. as mentioned before, it builds ball control skills, but it is also a change in pace from 8/9/10 ball.

I've played "call your next shot" but that's as far as I've gone.

Is this something you played before reading this post? if so, were the rules similar to those described here. If this was the first time, what did you think?

TIA.
