Time. marches on!!!!. My wife and I are moving to the old folks home Monday. They have a pretty nice rec room there including a Brunswick 9 ft. Medalist. It needs to be recovered and management doesn't want too spend any money on it because no one uses it. It has lots of room around it and good lighting. It looks I'm going to foot the bill and they say I can get a tax write off if I do it.

Does anyone have any idea how old a Medalist is? It was donated some ago but none of the present management knows when. The rubber is good. I can get 7 rails even with one of their beat up old house cues. "Old age hath yet its honor and its toil"

Dave,....... Good Luck to you & the wife at your new home. Can not help you out on the age of that pool table but it sounds like if you fix it up. You might have a good table to play on. There are a few rooms down here that have those tables and they play nice if they are kept up. Anyways, once again the Best to you and take some photos when you get settled in.

Consider contacting a cloth maker like simonis or championship. They may gice you a discount.

Not 860? Good luck to you and the misses. You are lucky that they still have that table. All the army barracks I go to now have crappy bar boxes or 8fts. When I came into the army there were only 9 ft olhausen, Connelly, our Brunswick s.

I own a Pro-Eight Medalist and I love it ! I heard it was one step down from the Gold Crown. It will still be there and making people happy after you're gone. I hope that is a Long time from now!

I Can't tell you the age of the table, tables should come with an id number. same as cars do.

I have a medalist with a ball return. and it plays real good, mine just happens to have a concave frame rail, about half an inch low in the center. way too many shims involved.
about every five to six months I need to take take an eighth or so out from under one of the legs to get it right again. Or put something back under.

such is the nature of real wood in a basement enviro.

I have another medalist with drop pockets at my brothers house, currently being used for laundry and other nonsense.

I won't say they play as good as a gold crown.
I might say you might not be able to see the difference.
I can't.
the medalist is a solid commercial table and is well worth the investment, You will enjoy it for years.

ps. does anyone else think engineered wood would be a better choice for the frame?
I know diamond built their ten footer with it.
so much more stable, very very flat.

According to the Brunswick web site the Medalist was produced 1926-1928. It looks to be a great antique table with a rich history.

Dave good luck in your new place. My folks moved into an independent living facility. They have really enjoyed living there and I am sure you will too. Wish you well and I hope you find plenty of good competition there.

Simonis 760, tournament blue. Already contracted for.

I put 760 on my table in March. I love it - plays faster than the 860 and has a bit of a slick feel to it - which will probably wear off some as it ages - but I'm really happy with the choice. Definitely quality material.://www.canyonero.com/files/1398607687.jpg
