I purchased my poolroom in july of 08, it was dying when i got it, new coat of paint, cleaned it up then in oct we had a breast cancer benefit, it didnt cost me hardly anything, alot of local vendors donated products for raffles,as well as my distributers for cues and supplies, cue and case, predator etc. as well as materal to build a stage from home depot and lowes, food was donated by local restaraunts, drinks from my beer and soda vendors, and we had 13 local bands that played for free, got great radio and media coverage for free, raised alot of money for the charity, but the best part,,,,,,,, great exposure to new customers,place was clean, fresh looking, great event, and i would say 80% have come back and about 50% have become regular customers, it took alot of legwork and planning but it worked, now we have a stage built for free, live local music that doesnt cost us a penny every friday night, big 9 ball tourney on sunday, hot body contest on saturday night, and i added dart leagues and they spend a ton of money drinking, they dont have to pay weekly league fees, and in november we bought 6 new diamond professional 9 ft tables with matching lights, simonis cloth, and 2 gc 4s with lights. the bottom line dont be afraid to try new things, in todays times, you have to make changes to survive.
