New installer questions on Tips

I’m in the process of teaching myself how to install tips on my new Cue Companion and have a couple questions.

I have read that layered tips dry out after about six months. If this is true, is there a recommended way to store your tips so that when they get installed they are fresh?

When installing a Kamui clear, several videos say do not sand the pad and use a liquid CA rather than a Gel. Is this the general opinion? Does this also hold true when installing a clear pad?

Thanks,

Two good tips I can give you that have worked for me. Buy a small cigar humidor to hold your unused tips. Really helps keep them like new. And MAKE SURE you seal the bottom of the tip with CA before an install. This insures an even bond between ferrule and tip. If the seal isn't complete, your cue will make a "click" or "tic" sound. A very annoying sound.

The sealing of a tip refers to leather tips, not with tips that have a preinstalled clear pad.

Sealing the bottom should have been my third question. I see lots of videos from well known people that don't and then others that do seal the bottom. Thanks for the input.
