Bellevue’s Hot, New Cue for Nightlife & Fun: The Parlor Billiards and Spirits
In a city not particularly known for its bustling nightlife, Bellevue will soon find itself host to one of the nation’s great billiard halls, The Parlor Billiards and Spirits. Upon its opening December 8, the upscale, full-service pool room will step up as the flagship of Bellevue’s nightlife, serving as a combined destination for drinking, dining and refined recreation.
The new mixed-use Lincoln Square opened on November 1, and now Bellevue’s downtown houses several new restaurants, a 16-screen state-of-the-art cinema, and The Parlor, a $4 million dollar project that easily rivals any billiards establishment across the county.
Regionally, The Parlor’s billiards facilities will be unmatched. The 20,000 square-foot venue will feature 43 billiards tables, a drink menu with 24 specialty martinis, a four-page bar dining menu, ten plasma screen televisions, and two private pool rooms for special functions. The Parlor will focus on providing complete customer satisfaction – all pool players will be able to page their server from the table – paying particular attention to educating its patrons on the game of billiards itself.
“Having made mental notes on what the perfect billiard hall would be like for the last two decades, I’ve yet to find a hall that truly focuses on customer service and hits on all cylinders,” said owner and creator Steven Olson, a former Seattle dentist and life-time pool devotee. “Having to hunt down a server in the middle of a game or not having adequate space around the table detracts from the experience. With the Parlor, I’ve tried to create a classy, full service room equally attractive and accommodating to league players and the general public.”
An entire portion of the hall will be dedicated to hosting leagues, tournaments, and professional exhibitions during the week, and all floor staff will be knowledgeable of the rules of billiards. The Parlor will be the first pool hall in the country to use professional Sardo racks and all the black Brunswick tables will be appointed in traditional green felt. A hostess will set the first rack of balls for each pool-playing party and pool players at all skill levels will be able to take advantage of The Parlor’s full service pro shop, which will offer equipment, clothing, repairs and lessons from beginning to advanced.
Non-billiards players get equal pampering. Those “chilling out” at the 42-foot bar will get to use the five-inch wide chilling strip to keep their drinks cold, and behind the bar, iced shelves will do the same for the vodka bottles. The Parlor’s lengthy drink list pairs well with the extensive bar-style menu featuring an assortment of individual pizzas, delicious salads, and gourmet hamburgers. And to feast the ears: The online Bose jukebox will offer just about every song ever recorded.
