Hey all,

I'm a 4th year Engineering Student Studying Engineering Graphics & Design with a minor in Plastics.

Thursday I start working for a cue maker in Michigan and I'm highly anticipating learning the groundwork for making cues!

He has a new CNC router and I have experience with CNC programing and CNC metal work. I have used CNC Milling and Drilling machines and fairly good with MasterCAM.

My main question is am I going to have any problems working with wood when I'm accustomed to metal work? Does anyone have any suggestions for me as I start my new job?

I can't wait to learn the ropes and begin my own cue aspirations.

Thanks in advance!

You may want to take this question to the "Ask the Cuemaker" section. You will probably get a better reply.

I can speak from some experience that it is different than workin' with metal. Wood carry's life...wood is a breathing, lively, soulfull material. You cant expect to work wood with the same "aggression" as you do metal...Good luck with your learning process and I cheer for your patience, lord knows your gonna need it.
