The Boston Billiards league and environment is a great pool night out

::sigh::

Boy, do I miss the Boston Billiards leagues! With a colleague, I ran now-defunct Danbury branch of the Boston Billiards league system for over 3 years, before the mass-branch-closures and consolidation happened in January 2009. Now, the nearest branch to me is in Worcester MA, which is far too long a haul.

It's a great league with an accurate handicapping system, in a cool setting. Boston Billiards has great food, as well -- the steak tips and turkey tips full dinner plates were among my favorites.

Highly recommended!

Is the one in Worcester still opened? It had closed before I moved away and I thought reopened as something else.

Freddie <~~~ doesn't have a bbc nearby

It did close. My girlfriend knew the previous owners.
The only place I really know of in Worcester for leagues is Jillians.

Oops. Well, there you go, guys. Just goes to show the last time I was in a Boston Billiards was when the Danbury branch was open. Once they closed that, they closed-off my ability to patronize them.

So, it looks like the Nashua NH branch is the only one left? Sad. But I hope the consolidation down to one branch finally righted the ship. Those in the Nashua area are fortunate.

Still, highly recommended for those in the Nashua area, or able to travel to the Nashua area.

Yeah, Sean, I used to go to the one in Boston right by Fenway. Place was always packed so I was shocked when it closed.
The pool was ok but the waitresses were spectacular :thumbup2:

I sure do miss the New England pool scene. It seemed like there was a decent tournament every weekend within a 2 hour drive. In all of my travels, it is my favorite part of the country (not just for pool)!

Me too, my first league experience was there in '01 playing 9 ball. I bought my first 'serious' cue there also, a McD. Ah the memories, I'd have to show up before they started carding or I couldn't get in to shoot! :rolleyes:
