New local cue maker

I received my new cue a few weeks ago and I haven't had a chance to take better pics. Sorry. My friend and I both bought these cues from a new local cue maker who has asked, for now, not to be named. These cues are amazing IMO. What say you AZB? For the record mine is the 8 pointer with ebony and blue veneers with a segmented ebony handle and reverse cut points, the other is 8 points with 4 long ebony and 4 short snakewood with a AAA grade birdseye maple handle and reverse cut points.

I would like to see some better pictures I'll offer my opinions understand this is not intended as criticism but I am giving my actual thoughts on approaching these cues as a buyer. Scale = 1-10.....Finish (6) (may be pics)...wood selection (9), cosmetics meaning color coordination ring design amount of inlay and putting it all together in one package that is fancy without being overdone (10) Points being equal length (7) one is better then the other, the signature on the forearm is taking away from the nice point work .....Over all they look like very nice cues I personally like only white ferrules and based on the pics I would have some questions about the shaft wood is it rock maple, they don't look traditional. If rock maple shafts with white ferrules are available and the pricing were reasonable I would buy one to check em out. Again I'm not criticizing but real answers will be more helpful then anything I think ====Nice Cues

The shaft you may be questioning for it's non-white ferrule is most definitely an OB1 shaft and not the cue makers....unless of course he also works for OB Cues and makes their shafts.

OB1 and OB2 shafts use wooden ferrules. Believe it or not you don't notice it one bit.

*edit* It is possible that he doesn't make his shafts. He may buy unfinished OB1 shafts and do the joints himself or it was requested by the person buying the cue.

It is a flaw of mine I think, I don't even like linen ferrules because I can't keep them white it is personal and not a ding on the maker just me as a buyer. I have actually built cue with gold ferrules for a guy it took him awhile to persuade me but I did it.

I like mine to be pearly white. I have yet to have owned a cue with a chalk blue ferrule. I cringed when I let someone I know use one of my cues. He chalked it with an old hollowed out piece of chalk the way you see on tv by sticking it the tip all the way down into the chalk and spinning it like he was trying to start a fire.

Let me take a guess, is the maker's name Holtz? ;)

Agreed I think the signature takes away from the work, I would never print it or make it bold like that. A nice small smooth signed name is the best in my opinion.

The logo thing on the bottom could be stamped into the but cap as an alternative to the signature but not in combination with it.

Sign the forarm or stamp the butt cap don't do both.

Anyway just my feedback, but the cue work (what really matters) looks great!
