New Meucci Quality

Maybe a month ago I bought a basic, entry level, Meucci to try out. It's just all red, and has a "pro" shaft with a layered tip. I have to give credit where credit is due. The overall quality of this cue is superb. Excellent fit, finish - and the shaft plays fantastic. It has a great feel and is low deflection. Meucci has really stepped its game up. I've tried new Meucci's in the past and always got dogs. The ferrules would crack after a few weeks. The finish would be weird. You name it. This is a very simple cue...plays good..and appears that it will be a great player for a long time. Plus, I will not worry about it getting dinged up, etc.

'Cue Reviews' section is probably a better place for this. I agree on Meucci, new ownership is doing wonders imo.

I doubt that is a fair assessment.

Meucci has historic problems with materials, methods, and quality control.

When considering a "basic" cue, and "entry level" cue, I could select a 50+ year old Rich cue butt and achieve the same result most likely ny screwing on a modern shaft.

From what I am hearing their repair shop has upped their game. That's a big plus.

As for a "basic" cue...I can pull a dozen basic cues out and they look great, even from Taiwan.

When the construction comes into it, what is being offered? Are these butts cored? If so how? With what?

Meucci is a respected major US cue manufacturer with a hard core following.

I have no idea what their current product is like. I collect older cues, and I have exactly one Meucci. It needs restored. Every plastic part in it has failed.

Building and selling a basic cue is not the challenge. Go to their higher end and compare those cues with the work of their competition as well as custom makers.
