I haven't hit with one, but have spoken with Royce through the concept & designing stages. All I can say is that OB went to great lengths researching maple and even greater lengths trying to source a supplier for quality wood suitable for the endeavor. IIRC, the technology is similar to that of their laminated shafts, so there shouldn't be much difference in performance, but you'll have the natural feel, stiffness, and resiliency of a solid maple shaft. IMO, they have taken the best of both worlds and put it into these shafts. Like I say, I haven't hit with one. But for what it's worth, I know for certain the concept and design and testing has been in serious consideration for at least three years, so this isn't just a quick gimmick idea. The guys at OB know what they are doing and take price in their work. If this idea actually came to market then you can bet it's a top tier product.
