New opinion on potential table purchase

Hello! I’m new here and new to billiards too but I enjoy it and am looking at a 1972 Brunswick Wellington CI-1 tournament table with ball return. I have attached pics. Can anyone help me with what it’s worth? I want to buy it but have no idea what to offer. Any help is much appreciated!
Update he wants $2,500 for it.

That is way too much for that table, maybe I could see paying as much as $1500 because its in such nice condition but that would be absolute tops. If that table has pressboard or particle board its likely that when disassembled and reassembled you will have many holes that no longer hold screws tight. For that price range you are much better off looking for a Brunswick Gold Crown which is a high end commercial table, you should be able to find one for $1500-$2500, less if you find a deal. My Gold Crown is over 50 years old and still looks like new.

$2,500 for that table would be probably from a dealer including delivery and installation. That much gets you a GC in very good shape, you can find one from a pool hall for like $1,000 that costs another $500 to setup very nicely with new cloth.

If you have (can get) access, crawl up under it and see if you see particle board anywhere.
Particle board anywhere reduces its value by at least 50%.
Here’s a pic from underneath but I can’t tell if it’s particle board. Can you?

They are referring to the slate backer board. But If the rails are particle board, RUN!

But I don't think Brunswick did that. I don't recall if the did or didn't.

If the rails, frame, an legs are hardwood, it will play fine. Getting the right person to install it is crucial.

You said it was a "tournament" table? I assume It is a 9 foot (50x100 playing surface)?

That picture certainly says it is not hardwood through and through; this lowers its maximum value by at least 30%.
What I was hoping for was a photo of the inner side supports and possible the slate framing planks.

Or the slate framing planks (where the cloth stapes go in); Run.

Let's face it, $2,500 is way out of line with its value.

Won't argue that one. Didnt see his update on original post. $2500 will get you a Gold Crown. Even if it's a FrankenCrown, he would be better off. But if he could get this for under $1000, it wouldn't be a bad table to bang around on.

When did Brunswick, and what models, did they use particle board framing planks?

Yes he said 9’ but I haven’t measured it yet.
