I have a Titlist conversion that I believe is from the 39-45 era based on the curly B lable Brunswick used at that time. It is a Willy Hoppe signature cue Green lable not blue. I have a story behind the cue that starts in newark NJ in 1958. What I dont have is a Builder of the conversion. This cue was Given to a friends Father and passed to his son who then left it with a mutual friend stating that it was worth a "Good Bit" and to take care of it as he was passing. The cue was rarely played and not played at all in the last 25yrs. The condition of this cue is exceptional considering its age. The mutual friend who has had the cue in a cue case in a closet top shelf for the last 25yrs has decided to part with it and asked me to help him find its value. Heres what may help in finding something out about the builder. The cue is unique in two ways.
1) the top portion of the titlist blank is actually Curly maple as opposed to the usual straight grain maple. the bottom of the blank is rosewood.
2) The pin used in this conversion is a 3/8x? and originates from the shaft as opposed to the butt of the cue.
I am trying to upload some quality pics in hope that someone may know something about the builder based on the differences that I stated above. The man tyhat has asked me to sell this for him is 68 and this cue was given to his friends father 1958 but there is no mention of the name of the man who gifted the cue. hopefully these pics will upload properly and clear.
