New Pockets, now balls pop out

I have a 3 1/2 X 7 Renasiance table with drop pockets. Table is about 20 years old but it is great condition. Due to normal wear and tear I had to replace the pockets and started to have a problem with the balls bouncing out even on soft shots! Figuring maybe the pockets might need to break in? So we played on it for 3 years, even put a slit in the leather in back of the pocket. None of this seemed to help so we purchased new pockets and the problem is still the same if not worse. Anybody have a solution?

I have also had similiar problems with these Charles Porter tables. We ended up with a Hood Leather pocket and the customer hasn't called back complaining.
