If you are afraid to play with a cue, don't buy it. Cues are made to be played with, not hung on the wall and looked at.Sambo said:I have been wondering when people spend big money on a pool cue do they really take it to the pool hall and risk getting it damaged.
Your question about risk has to be answered by yourself. If it is not worth the risk to you, and you are going to constantly be worrying about your cue, don't buy it.Sambo said:hey guys i understand taking care of your cue and I know that most of the damage would be done to the shaft...but still things can happen. And when you spend a couple of thousand dollars on a cue is it really worth the risk.

Most, but not all, of the cue makers at the Valley Forge Super Billiards Expo will let you hit a few balls with a cue. Some will ask that you not chalk the tip.Sambo said:Well I guess that has answered my question...now let me piggy back on this and ask... are you able to buy and/or try some of the custom cues at shows to see if they have the you are looking for?
