New Pool Room in St Louis

There's a new room in St Louis that just opened called Cuetopia. It is owned by Harold Johnson who formerly ran Billiards on Broadway. For anyone in St Louis that does not know Harold. Harold runs a very tight place and is a great guy for the pool industry. I have been to his new place while it was under construction and was very impressed. About 20 tables I think total. A mix of 9 foot Gold Crowns with brand new bar box tables. Lots of room between tables for shooting and lots of seating for the spectators. He will have a full bar and "bar menu kitchen" as he puts it. Mostly appetizers and simple foods. Harold has been kind enough to bring a lot of his regular customers into Cue & Cushion while he rebuilt his own pool room. I wanted to thank him for his business and for his friendship. I wish him well in this brutal market. Hes a strong man, he can handle it.

Good luck Harold!

Road Trip!

I used to visit St. Louis when my sister lived there.
But have not been back in over 6 years.
May have to make the trip one day in a RV but instead of stopping at NFL stadiums make it to the pool halls.
What a dream!

Good luck to Cuetopia and good luck to Cue and Cushion.

IS it the old action billiards?

NO...the old Action billiards is now reopened under different ownership as Starlite Billiards. They are currently revamping again trying to go after more of a night club crowd instead of pool crowd. This is my current info through the pool player grapevine. Take it for what it is worth.

Harolds place (Cuetopia) is in a strip mall and as far as I know there has never been a pool room in this mall. He formerly operated Billiards on Broadway. His place is brand new construction and quite spacious. Cheap rates of $4.50/hr to play. Go visit them sometime.

Update

Heard from several sources that the new Starlite pool room is now closed.

Another St Louis room bites the dust.

For what it is worth

What happened to Buddy Evans place? Planet 8 Ball. And how is he doing?

Keep in mind I do not know Buddy Evans personally and everything I have heard is second hand.

Planet 8 Ball went under a while back. I want to say about 6 months ago. It had not made money in a long time and I had heard he wasn't feeling well. From what I do not know. So this combination gave him the incentive to close it. I do know we were contacted by a firm claiming to be his lawyers loooking for investors to buy out Planet 8 Ball.

Pool has been in the decline for at least 3 years in St. Louis. Our business has been steady which I cannot complain about. Most businesses have seen a decline. Just One More Sports Bar & Grill is one of the few that are thriving. Due in part to acquiring all of Planet 8 Balls league teams. They have been doing great. Cuetopia has been doing well too, but is more club oriented now in order to make money. Seems pool players are getting fewer and fewer.
