New Predator shaft

First off hello!

I just received my new predator sneaky pete. When I took it out of the box and opened the case I found there was a tiny nic in the shaft right where the shaft and butt connect. I'll post a picture later. I only had time to quickly examine it because I picked it up on my way to work, but it doesn't look like it should really effect play much if at all. I'd just like to get some opinions on whether or not it would be worth the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a replacement. I'm a long time player and consider myself above average, but I haven't owned a stick in quite a few years. This new predator being my only stick I really want to just keep it so I can go play this weekend with it, but it is an expensive shaft. Sick of using house lumber. The cue shipped inside a case with joint protectors on it; however when I got it the shaft joint protector was off. So what would you do?

Thanks

I am not too picky about that stuff. If I had another cue I would send it back. If I didn't then I would just play with it.

What I find interesting about this thread is the number of responses suggesting that the OP return the shaft.
Yet no one other than the OP has seen 'the nick'. Ah yes, the dreaded nick.
The OP has made one post, 3 weeks ago and hasn't been back since.
I wonder how many nicks are in the shaft now???

Of those suggesting that he return the shaft, have you all determined which of you will pay his shipping costs???
Both ways.
Before you go suggesting that the dealer should, let's see a show of hands from those who are certain this didn't
happen while in transit.
You may like this one.....or maybe not.
Would the shaft had fared better if it were made in the US???
I wonder where Gold, Platinum and Diamonds come from???
Are you thinking yet???

it would be better

because it would keep our dollars in the usa, it would create jobs in the usa, and in my opinion, the shaft quality went down after they started being made over seas.
i have not seen thousands of their shafts, but i have seen quite a few, and IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, they have suffered in quality.
had a buddy buy one and after about a week the shaft started to smell like rotten eggs, they would not warrenty the shaft because of smell.

i dont know what it has to do with a dentin a shaft

just to answer your question, diamonds are mined in
australia, botswanna, russia, south africa, angola, zaire, nambia, brazil, ghana, central africa republic, india, canada, borneo, bahai, luderiza, china, and 20 other countries.
there is also diamond mine in arkansas

First let me say that I wasn't calling you out on anything or ragging on your statement.
I was trying to make the point that we now live in a global economy.
America has the edge in a lot of areas but not all. Made in USA doesn't mean what it used to.
Predator started in this country with American technology and engineering but like any company
looking to improve their bottom-line, they moved to where cheap labor could be had.
That came at the expense of American jobs and this is my biggest complaint with Predator.
I have other complaints with them but American jobs is the biggest.
They do make a fine product though and they are the largest selling shaft in the world by far.
I would venture a guess that they out-sell their nearest competitor by a ratio of 20:1.
It's the buying public and what they want.

IMHO, which is not always so humble, I don't see where the overall quality has dropped.
It's still the same shaft, just the ends have changed; ferrule & joint.
It's still American (or Canadian) Maple processed on American designed & built machines.
Just the operators have changed.

As far as the rotten egg smell on your buddy's shaft, you might want to take a whiff inside his case, Lol.

Have a Great Day, KJ

thanks for the more detailed description of your thoughts. maybe i have just got a bit sensitive on the subject of sending out money overseas. this damn economy is crumbling around us and we, not polititions, need to try to make this a better place to live. at what time do we quit shipping out dollars away and leaving nothing for the citizens of this country?
we all have opinions and mine is, you play with a predator, you are making a small contribution to the decline of the U.S.A.
