My Gosh, it's been a few years since I'm here, now that the pool halls are reopening here I'm going back to playing.
Was wondering if you guys can update me on new cues?

I currently play a Lucasi with predator Z2 shaft and Kamui black SS.

I was thinking of going for a Predator 9K-2 + Black Revo Carbon + Kamui Medium
I just like the black/crimson color of the 9K-2

CF is the new rage. Also check out the Predator limited edition SP2 cues. They have a modern look that goes well the the black shafts. The one I have is: SP2-REVO-Tuxedo-2.

How are you liking those Revo carbon fiber shafts vs say the Z2?

What's the difference that I should notice with: CF vs SP2 VS 9K-2 ?

I played with 314's and Z's since the late 90's. I tried a 12.9 Revo last year and hated it. It was too fat. I then tried a 12.4 Revo and IMO it plays pretty much exactly like a 314. I like it a lot. There is also an 11.8 Revo, I have not tried that.

There won't be any play difference in the butts, its only an aesthetic preference. I think the black color of the CF goes better with cool colors, rather than warm colors. That's why I went for the SP2-REVO-Tuxedo-2. But, again purely color preferences. https://fcibilliards.com/predator-sp2-revo-tuxedo-2-pool-cue/

Ooooooh, that must be a discontinued butt. I didn't see that in the predator website. Looks very sexy.

I like black and crimson combination, thus thinking of the 9K-2. I like the Azurite too but it's discontinued.

Also about the tip, I was using Kamui Black SS. What do you think if I were to go Kamui Medium just for more forgiveness ?

11.8 revo and don't turn back, disclaimer is it will be a little bigger than your z2 but trust me I think you will be pleased.

What is wrong with old Zcue, and shaft?

Got to have latest greatest? Spare no expense, get a Black Boar from Tony.😇

Picked up a Predator black SP w/ 4 blue points and no wrap last Friday. Shaft is a 12.4 Revo and got a 8" extension to leave on permanently since a 58" cue is too short for me. Prefer a simple understated design for pool cues.

The 11.8 was made to entice those that play with a Z (according to Predator's website). I have a Z and love it, so I just bought the 11.8 Revo - but I haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet.

Yeah, Predator has had a different "special edition" SP2 about every 6 months to a year since the Revo came out. They are limited production and usually go fast. The current one is the blue one. The one I ordered came out about 9 months ago, and was sold out almost immediately. I ended up finding it at The Billiard Warehouse online when it was out of stock everywhere else.

The butt of the cue won't matter much, the Revo deflects a bit less than the Z2, hit feel is different stock, but with an added pad to it has a similar hit to the Z shafts. I have a Z3 and go from that to a 12.4 Revo without issues. I rotate between 3-4 shafts depending on the mood, so use the Z3 and the Revo about equal amounts. Lucasi and Predator are pretty much the same cue as far as quality goes, the Predator Radial pins tend to have a nice hit feel than the quick release Unilock pins cues. I've hit with Predator Radial and Lucasi 3/8x10 pin cues, with a Revo, could not tell any difference between them.

Thanks for all the feedbacks.

So looks like I'll be going for the 9k-2 with Revo 11.8

What do you guys think of a BKRush jump/break?

My current breaking cue is a crappy cheap cue made of fiber glass I think and I converted the tip for breaking.

Personally think the only things worth buying from predator are the revo shaft and the rush break. I would not buy any other complete cue from them for the price, based on construction quality and looks (the butt cap area is hurting my eyes ) Mezz/Exceed are much nicer cues for the money at every price point.

It would be good if you could try a revo before buying if you never played with a carbon shaft before, they have advantages and disadvantages. For the break I would recommend the rush break cue and a separate jumper rather than the break/jump combo. The normal breaker has a leather tip infused with resin which is proprietary to predator and one of the best things about it, while the jump/break has a phenolic tip and a different weight distribution.

I got a revo 12.4 set up it is decent don't get me wrong but the shaft "hit" doesn't feel like or sound like wood at all. Before you take the plunge i highly recommend trying out a jacoby black shaft. It's got a solid thud sound and they are very well-made. Whatever you decide I would be wary when you get into the 11's for mm (unless you are coming from something similar). That's a really small and unforgiving diameter some do like them but the 12.4/12.5 set ups are real good middle ground imo. Anyway good luck on your purchase whatever you decide.

Well, I changed my mind completely.... I just placed a custom order with Jacoby.

Thanks a bunch for all the feedback guys!
