New Private billiard club in Bath, NY

Wow that looks great, wish they had something like that where I live!!

I noticed that you started a thread last year about pool rooms in upstate NY. I put a response on there, did you ever go check out any of those rooms? They were in Binghampton and Endicott.

In Binghamton, {no p} The Pocket Billiard Lounge, now Ball Busters Billiards? In Endicott, Triangle Billiards or Guys and Dolls? Know them well!

My bad, I skipped English class to go to the pool hall lol.

That’s cool man. I grew up in those rooms. How long have you been up there we have probably played each other if you’ve been around a while.

Hi Joe. Yep I have played at Triangle a few times and Ball Busters once. Thank you for the inputs. There are a couple of others that I still need to get to. I haven't gotten to Guys and Dolls yet. I generally play at F&G Billiards in Waverly. It could use some attention, but it's local and inexpensive. I'm also trying to talk them into league play, but so far they aren't biting.

I found a site one time that listed pool halls on a map and there was also one in Trumansburg, NY. I work in Ithaca and no one here seems to know anything about it. Know anything about that one?

I was also doing some research about opening something in Elmira, but it would have to have something besides pool to survive. I was thinking along the lines of the Hardtimes themes (Bar, Grill, Pool). The one in Fredericksburg, VA seems to do a heck of a business.

I'll probably pay this private club a visit to check it out, sometime in the near future.

I lived in the Binghamton area from about 1973 or 74 until 1997 when we moved to South Carolina. I practically lived in The Pocket Billiard Lounge. I knew just about all the players in that area. I even worked there, cleaning tables and what not for a couple of years.

No I don’t know anything about the one in Trumansburg, but I thought there was one in Ithaca. Maybe down town somewhere?

Craig,
I may know some people from down your way, at least I think they are. Pickles, don't remember his real name, Bob Fuller. Bill Vincent, who used to be from Binghamton. Can't remember the rest.

Yes I know Bob Fuller. Helluva good shooter. Nice guy too. Don't know the other two, though the nickname Pickles sounds familiar as hell. I'll ask around. You may know Dan Earl as well, though I don't see him shoot as much anymore. (Our schedules likely don't match up). Joe Mayo is another good one you may have heard of.. younger guy, but a good shooter.

I'll keep asking if there is one here in Ithaca, nothing in the book. If so, I have a new hangout for my lunch hour!

Dan Earl sounds familiar, but I'm not sure. Pickles is/was an auctioneer, I think. Tell Bob, if you see him, that Gary Ives says hello.
Come to think of it, Dan Earl may BE Pickles.

Will do the next time I see Bob. Probably Sunday evening. I think I know who you are talking about with Pickles. I just have to put the name to it now.

Have a good day.

I just wanted to jump into this thread because I was born and raised in Horseheads, and am now living in Wellsboro, PA. Having to drive south to Williamsport or north east to Binghamton to play really sucks. It's been my dream to move back home to the Corning/Horseheads/Elmira area and open up a hall, but I'm too young with too little capitol to do that at this time.

If you're seriously looking at opening a hall in this area, the area around the arnot mall is booming right now with all the new retail stores popping up, and I could see a nice hall with good food doing really well in that area. Plus, it's right in between Elmira and Corning and on a major interstate, so you're getting players from both those areas. If I were you I'd stay away from Elmira city limits, the city just isn't what it used to be, and isn't really showing signs of improving (as far as entertainment goes).

As a side note, if you open anywhere near this area I'll basically live at your hall. I'll check out the bath club, and thanks for keeping us updated.

If you have any questions or feel like keeping me in the loop on anything, my email is mcpastore@gmail.com

Hi Mike,

You can come to Waverly too. F&G billiards is 40 miles west of Binghamton in Waverly. I agree with your assessment of the Mall area. And am looking at my capital options.
