I'm still in Vegas cause I will be playing in the VNEA. Made this part of a business trip and staying at the Riv. I went down to the tournament room where the BCA was last week and the VNEA is setting up this week. I didn't notice it at first because the Valley tables were up on their sides and on a dolly. Actually hundreds of them but they have changed the Valley tables. There is no more cast plate around the pockets that gets in the way when you are shooting. It is all smooth. So I went and bought a cheap camera and took some photos. Found 3 old style Valley's and hundreds of new ones.

What do you think?

Will these new tables make it easier for you to shoot on?

I absolutely love it. Those raised corner plates were just an inconvenience. Some people (Johnnyt being one) actually went so far as to pull them up and cover them in cloth so as not to risk cutting up his hands and cues. This is a fantastic improvement.

Very nice super improvement Thumbs Up

I agree it is like playing without an obstruction on the pockets. I just played on one of the tables someone came up to me and said that the tables weren't ready to play yet. He said he was from vnea so I asked him if I was the first to play on the new tables he just started laughing and walked away who knows...maybe?

Definetly much improved but I still don't like having my stick slide over the metal.

Over the pockets, I always bridge on my hand anyway, just because I don't like when my cue gets those black streaks from the rubber pocket bumpers. So I guess for me, this isn't even an issue.

The pocket liners will set lower , almost flush with the rails , wonder what effect that will have ? , if any .

I personally like Vally Bar Boxes, and think DIAMONDS are over rated. Almost all the BARS in Phoenix have VALLEYS!!!

Thats all that we have here to, but doesn't make them over rated, just more expensive. However, this change on Valleys is for the better.

Think in the Valley of the Sun there are (2) Bars, or Rooms with ALL DIAMOND BAR BOXES, and I say big deal. The Valleys are 1/2 the price to play on!!!

Daimond's biggest strength is you get to use a real cue ball that rolls well, and the pockets are like real pool tables so you have to be more accurate. There are other things that make that table superior. If you think that makes them "over rated" then so be it. Valley made these changes for a reason, probably to keep pace with that "over rated" competitor.

However, the change Valley has made is huge! That raised casting altered how people would break the balls, the level of your cue when stroking over a pocket, and ruined equipment (scratching shafts and butts). This is a great improvement - thanks Valley! Now if they can get round and evenly weighted cue balls, they are back in business.

I think their improvement is nice but still doesn't fix it the way it should have been fixed.

Get rid of the stupid metal plate on top of the rail all together. That would have been much better. I own a valley bar box and I really hate the metal plate.

Exactly 12squared!!!

I'm glad to see Valley's making some changes. Still going to be a long time before they fix the entire coin mechanism or change the weighted cueball, but a good start.

Everytime I'm forced to play on valleys, I use a bar cue to break with to not have to deal with the stupid metal plate.

Did they tighten up the bucket pockets yet?

I am confused about something. I keep seeing people post about this weighted cue ball issue on valleys, I thought that the newer valley tables were using a magnetic system, and that arimath metal flake ball? Maybe I just don't understand it.
