It is with pleasure that I announce a new section in Carompedia:
Ladies Events.
I've gathered the results of the tournaments that matter most: the World Championships, the European Championships (for a while called "European Ladies Cup") and the Women's Open / Jennifer Shim Memorial in New York.
Two women rise far above all, in the short-ish history of female 3-cushion: Orie Hida from Japan and Therese Klompenhouwer from the Netherlands. Both have four world titles, no other woman has more than one. Both Hida and Klompenhouwer, it must be said, have been magnificent ambassadors of the female game, and great role models for the next generation.
Is there new talent? Yes. Sruong Pheavy from Cambodia is already around the 0.800 mark, and she has the potential to reach 1.000. The same can be said about Lee Mi Rae and Han Ji Eun from South Korea.
Meanwhile, Therese Klompenhouwer has not rested on her laurels. She's continued to improve and is now consistently between 1.100 and 1.200. That's the highest level for a woman, ever. If the young Asians want to catch her, they'll have to work hard.
I hope you enjoy a look-back at the best Ladies' events of the past 20 years. Just follow the link!

She currently has the ability to beat any player in the world in a game to 40 points. Maybe not favored, but not impossible either.
