If you're used to playing with a low-deflection shaft like a Predator, and like it, why not? If you're not used to it, try to play with one for a while first and see if you like it.
I made a (sorta) mistake recently and bought a Predator 314-2 for my Viking. I like my original Viking shafts, but low-deflection shafts seem to be the "thing" lately, so I thought I'd get one. I use back-hand english a lot (learned it 40 yrs ago; thought that's all there was for years!), and I read on these forums that BHE itself counters deflection a bit, and I've never really had a problem with deflection. I think maybe I've just grown accustomed to compensating for it without much conscious thought. Anyway...I like the 314-2, but I find I'm miscuing A LOT when I use extremely low draw. I NEVER scoop the cue ball with my regular shaft using extremely low english, but I'm doing it a lot with my 314-2. My guess is that the same characteristics of the 314-2 that allows it to deflect off the cue ball when using side english (hollowed-out shaft end) causes it to deflect downward when applying extremely low english. Not sure whether I'm going to keep using it or just keep using my old shafts (11.5mm, dime-shaped tip).
