Simonis is replacing its long time standard 300 Rapide cloth. I found it interesting it's been around since 1980. I wonder if it pre-dated pool cloth 760? Was 300 the first modern cloth that Simonis made?

Of course they have been around over 300 years, but I don't know what their cloth was like before the 1980's.

Simonis is replacing its long time standard 300 Rapide cloth. I found it interesting it's been around since 1980. I wonder if it pre-dated pool cloth 760? Was 300 the first modern cloth that Simonis made?

Of course they have been around over 300 years, but I don't know what their cloth was like before the 1980's.

I would guess that the added nylon helps reduce the water retention. I need to buy some billiard cloth this summer so this is good to know.

First time i saw 760 was in about '87. Hated it. Still do except in really humid rooms. IIRC RKC talked about installing 760 in '83 which was most likely first year or so.

We played on faster cloth all through the 70s at the Rack in Detroit….Gil Elias used to be a good carom player and he used Granito.
l loved it…..heavier cloth sends the balls air-born.

I was just talking about pool. 3c needs glass fast be really playable. Here in tulsa they use 3c cloth on the 5x10 golf table and its scary quick. In dry conditions i think 760 is too fast for rotation games. Probably fine for 14.1/1p.

Fast cloth is my personal preference for any game I play….I played 9-ball at Baker’s in Tampa on a carom cloth when I was a kid….pulled enough miracles that the whole room quit …been hooked to carom cloth ever since…which is strange for a snooker player.
Biggest single win I ever took was snooker on a carom cloth.

I'd think that super-fast cloth in Tampa humidity would be just right. I grew up on slower stuff so really fast rugs give me fits. Always over-playing shape. Dammmit jim.
