New team event idea?

I was watching the Mosconi Cup "Team Event" and realized they were not playing with their teamates, but playing individually or as a dutch double.
My idea for a team event in pool is this: 5 man teams, 5 man rotation scotch doubles, every player shoots 1 ball and then his teammate shoots the next and so on down the line. Every player on the team has to be playing his best in order for his team to do good. This might bring more excitement into the game, more misses, and more coverage of more players in a shorter time. Has this format ever been tried? If not why? Seems like a good idea for an Olympic Event. Give me some feedback guys.

I tried this once but with a three on three format, and I didn't like it. The constant change of shooters tends to make the game go too slowly even in scotch doubles, but six people around one pool table was too many, and everyone got in everyone else's way, bringing the game to a crawl. I can't even imagine it with ten players, amd seriously doubt it has ever been tried in competition.

I agree that yours would be an interesting and fair format, but slightly better would be a format in which each player remained at the table until his/her inning ended. At least this would keep the game moving.

I think it may work/ where I live the league has more going on than the tournaments. We have APA, BCA , Valley.... xyz ....just kidding about the xyz....

We used scotch doubles at last years Border Battle and it was much better than regular doubles, because the players communicate amongst each other you get to hear what's going through their heads something you don't get with singles. But 10 guys at the table at once is alot of guys, maybe 3 on3 or 4 on 4 at the most, I say why not give it a chance the pool on TV currently isn't cutting it. Most people won't like the idea but it's time for a change and while this probably isn't it at least give it a chance.
