The other guy said it perfectly. If you have a tip right now that is not comfortable because it's worn down, then you know that you won't become comfortable with it over time. At least with a new tip, you know that if it doesn't feel good right away, it's nothing that a two hour session won't fix. That being said, (and this is a matter of personal opinion) I'm a creature of habit, and don't like change. Be it wrap, shafts, ferrules or whatever. However, two tips come to mind when it comes to being able to put one on and walk into a pool hall and play without having my mind on the new tip. Kamuii and milk duds. Those two tips are the only I've ever tried that (for me) have needed minimal to absolutely no break in process. I would easily change one out between matches in the middle of a tournament and not be bothered a bit.
