I'm looking to replace the tip on my pechauer cue. I have been using the pechauer gold medium tip. Someone told me I should check out Kamui tip. They said it holds it's consistency better as it wears down than the pechauer gold tip.
G2 was another tip mentioned.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

I want to stay with a medium layered tip as I seem more consistent with it.

Thanks in advance

I think the best layered tips to try are G2, Kamui, Zan, and Precision. All have a different feel. Each person will have a preference, but any of these will be very good at worst, and amazing at best.

It really depends on who you ask and what you're looking for. I play with the Kamui's and
the G2's, both are outstanding tips and I've never had a problem with either, but I know
there are plenty of folks here that don't care for either. Tips I'd never use again would
be any of the Predator tips or the Navigator tips, I think they're awful, but that's just me.
I think if you've been using the Pechauer and it's been working for you you may just want
to stick with it, maybe go from medium to soft. But if you really want to try something
new maybe start with the Ultraskins. They're good tips and I think overall they seem to
have some of the best reviews and generally they are pretty cost effective too.

Ultraskin or Thoroughbred. I've heard good things about G2's and Zan's but have no exp. with either one. Am currently using a Ultraskin Ivory medium and am really happy with it. 15bux for 3 on ebay or 10 for 25bux here on AZ.

it's like asking about a recommendation on food or a favorite color or sports team.

There are 10-20 valid recommendations, all based on what you will like when you try it.

If you have friends that play, try out what they use. Of course unless their shafts fit on your cue you will be trying out their full cue, so again, only thing you can do is try the tips. I solve this by having a son that plays and keeping 4-5-6 shafts around with different tips we try LOL

I like the Precision tips, have used and liked the Ki-Tech single layer treated tips, Kamui Black are OK but they change too fast in their hardness, Kamui Brown I tried and are also OK.

I think if I had to just keep re-installing the tips I would go with Precision softs as a go-to. I use a Revo shaft mostly now and like the stock soft tip on that.

Try one of ours. Great hitting tips with a good price.
Thanks for looking.

Kamui tips, especially the Black series, tends to be harder than you might imagine.
I found the Kamui Black medium to be too hard and consequently. it glazed a lot
that required frequent scuffing. I switched to the Kamui Black Clear version in a soft
and super soft hardness. Both played great and the glazing of the tip issue was also
eliminated so I installed Kamui Black Clear on most of my cues, except for three cues.

Ditch the layered tip bandwagon man. Put a regular Triangle or either a milkdud from Az member pooldawg8 then go play pool. You made a good choice on the cue, so do the same for a tip!

This right here. Layered tips have got to be the most overhyped overpriced item in the pool industry. Triangles are tough to beat.

I have really been wanting to try those. I guess I need to order one. Everyone seems to like them

I tried a medium Kamikaze on my Frey sneaky and like it. I had to replace the original Ultraskin medium which was also a fine tip.

I too was in the same situation not too long ago. My pechauer came with a stock tip and I switched out to a G2 medium. Good tip and big improvement over the stock tip, but it was lacking the hit I wanted. Changed to the hard, much better feel.

Kamui and Zan were also on my list but I haven't tried them yet. Always wanted to try a Kamui Black but with so many negative reviews about glazing and inconsistencies I wasn't confident in them.

I feel there are many people trying to save every penny they can, buying kamuis from ebay or other online stores and they may not be getting an authentic product.
