First off, how do you guys start a rack? Rack a 14 ball rack and put the head ball a few inches to the side of the rack and then take ball in hand behind the headstring and shoot that one first for your breakout? Also do you count a ball that falls in unintentionally? Say you go to shoot a ball in the side and make another ball in the corner.... Does that ball go toward your count, or do you remove it and spot it, or not count it? Any help is appreciated!!

rack 14 balls, remove the head ball and place it any where you want, take ball in hand(any where on the table).

yes make your called shot and any other balls count toward your total.

Not really sure if you meant help you start the rack or help you start learning the game. If it is help learning to play the game you will get a ton of great information on these boards. But might I also suggest the Straight Pool Bible

This is a GREAT book for beggining 14.1 players, and a good refresher for those that already play the game. Its a pretty simple read that will give you a handle on many of the key aspects of playing 14.1.

Also watch as many Accustat matches as you can. Matches with good commentary are not only fun to watch but are very educational.

Yes the "Bible" is a great read, as well as "Play Your Best Straigh Pool" by Phil Cappelle.

as far as videos are concerned i highly recomend "how to Run A Rack" & "How To Run 100 Balls" by King James Rempe available through Accu-Stats.

there is alot of great resources here in the 14.1 forum, feel free to chime in on conversations there are some very knowledgable players on here who are always willing to help !!!

Welcome to the game !!

If you're talking about practice, most of us rack 14 and put the break ball wherever and play from there. To start a game, you rack 15 and usually play safe, playing one corner ball to the bottom rail and back and the other to the side and back, with the cue ball going three or four rails to the head rail.
Your question isn't really very clear.
