...would like to let y'all know how exciting it is to finally meet others who are equally, if not more, interested in pool as I am. I've been playing 8-ball for around two years -- sporadically at first, but fervently as of late. I still consider myself to be a new player, not knowing much about the game, and thus will be asking A LOT of questions. Hope nobody gets tired of me as I am eager to learn (especially about terminology). I guess that's it for now.... So y'all have a good evening! :D

Sir, Bob Romano, Mr. Purdy, Zim, you don't have to go any further that those 3 people, hold your questions to just them and soon you will know everything, they are all experts. Avoid listening to everyone, some know, some do not, the above 3 know. IMHO they do at least :D for what that is worth.

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies so soon. I can tell I'm going to like these forums already. I'll try to visit daily. Most of my questions will probably be replies to posts (when I don't understand something). Thanks. Have a good evening.

Oh, and I reside in Los Angeles. If anyone knows of any good pool halls down here let me know. I know of two and one closed down (seems to me like pool ain't too popular on the west).

Dismalist, the reason pool is dying on the west coast is Keith McCready lives on the east coast now, LOL. Welcome to the board,,,,,,,,,,$Bill

Try going to this link:

http://www.playpool.com/finders/poolhall.html

And do a search on Los Angeles, CA; you'll get a pretty big list of pool halls doesn't say which is good and bad but it's a start.
Hard Times in Bellflower has a good rep.

When I was out there for a wedding "Danny K's Billiard Room" in Orange was recommended to me and I thought it was pretty good. They have a nightly 9-ball tournament you can try your hand at.
