Trust me, that title hit the point.

My problem is (not to be able to play good:p ) that some nights ago i got hooked on one pocket. So what i'm after is some good tips about websites, other than onepocket.org, where i can find some good technical and tactical advices. Like i said, i don't know one pocket more than a pig knows jet engines. (ok, i know the rules..)

OnePocke.org is probably the best website there is for the subject matter. Breaking tips, middle game and end game shots are all covered in the site. Diagrams for banking (single and muti-rail shots), and a tutorial for beginners.

If you want books and videos, try accustats.com for videos and Amazon for One Pocket books.

I'd say the best thing is to get someone who knows the game very well. Have them teach you whatever they can.

When I started playing one-pocket, one of the old timers in the room pulled me aside and started working with me. First he'd rack the balls and let me break. We probably did that for 30 minutes, every time going over what made it a good break, what made it a bad break, and how to improve. Break, rack, break, rack, break, rack.

Then, we'd go one step further. For another 30 minutes I'd break, and then take one shot after the break. We'd go over all the various traps, banks, safeties, kicks, etc to best turn the table on the opponent after the break.

Then we'd go one step further and go 3-4 innings into a game, again talking about every possibility and pitfall. We'd do this over and over until I started seeing basic patterns in offensive and defensive play.

I think with a game like one-pocket, finding someone who can break down the strategy for you is the best thing. When pros play, they break and start knocking balls around so fast that a beginner will never understand what they're doing. Anyone just starting the game just isn't in the mindset to see all that is going on (or why a shot may not be good for the next inning but will pay dividends in 3, 4 innings down the line). So while Accu-Stats is a great tool, I'd recommend it more for the intermediate players.

I'm by no means a one-pocket expert, but I will say that having been pulled aside by one that it made my game jump in ways I had never considered.

www.fcsnooker.co.uk/

Its not pool, but as you know snooker fundamentals translate well over to pool. There is some good stuff on the stroke, the grip, the stance and the bridge.

Thx!

I'll check that site too. And about having someone to teach..it's not that easy 'cause one pocket is not a big thing in Europe and i have no clue who is playing it in higher, or even in mediocre, level in those places that are reachable for me. But maybe i can create something.
