I'll be the first to welcome you to the forum.

It is a great place to pick up new ideas to improve your game as well as just banter with fellow enthusiasts.

I can't offer advice as I am just a lowly D player on a good day.

I would encourage you to post some questions in the Ask the Instructor forum to get advice on how to improve your game. You'll get some good responses.

Ditto this.

(Though methinks I might have go further down the alphabet regarding myself, heh)

Welcome aboard.

Practice. Lots. Then practice more. Then a lot more. Repeat. :)

When you play by yourself, make sure your practice time is "quality" practice. Meaning, don't just bang balls around. Focus. Play like it's the finals of a big match. You gotta burn that muscle memory in. Sometimes (many times), it's hard to concentrate for long sessions. When your focus slips away, take a 10-minute break. Slapping balls around with a floppy "I don't give a crap" stroke only hurts your game.

As for strengthening the mental game, you just gotta play for money every chance you get. It doesn't have to be big money, but it has to be enough to make you *want* to win. Play your friends for a beer, or table time, or a couple bucks per rack. Move up to playing better players. Negotiate for some kind of a spot, but you're still gonna have to earn the win.

After playing under pressure long enough, you'll get used to it. How long will it take? No clue. Everybody is a little different. Unfortunately, it won't be overnight.

Welcome! This is a great site and packed with all kinds of info. People are more than willing to help, just ask questions.

I can relate to the freezing. When I'm down on the 9 ball, I've found that knocking the icicles off from my cue stick will help, but not always.

Enjoy the site!

Welcome aboard, tryin.
My advice would be to play, and play some more. Play people who are better than you. Gamble, if you are inclined to do so. Get instruction, if you feel you need it.
Learn One Pocket. You'll thank me and Grady, later.
And don't forget to sign up for this Wednesday's field trip. We're all going to the International Condom Museum in Gateway, Arkansas. Would you believe they have an old condom that is made out of wood? I think Martha Washington carried it around. :)
