Nope, theyre will be a $hit load of qualifiers at $2k a pop, top two from each win card. Nobody knows exactly how many yet but prob between 50 and 100 qualifiers around the world. Will be a piece of cake! ;)

I think you mean the top two win an entry into the Qualifying Tournament where the top 50 out of 200 or 250 players win their card.

Ow my eyes. Quit yellin'. :D

Probably the same way they're running the main tour events of late - over several days.

I know that early in the year, when they ran those five two-tour-card tournaments (to fill in those ten tour spots that came open), it took them three days to run them. I was at the Atlanta one, there was just short of fifty participants (if I recall correctly) and running double-elim race-to-10, it took three days.

No clue whether they'll go double-elim or round robin though. They did double-elim for the above-mentioned tour-card spots, but round robin for the open qualifiers, did they not?

All of the qualifiers have been double elimination. The only round robin events have been the actual tournaments.

I believe the actual qualifying tournament for the fifty tour cards will be round robin but the tournaments to win an entry will be double elimination with the top two getting a spot.

Haha sorry for yellin', I always have my caps on. Anyway thanks for the info, can't wait to get down there and give it my all!!

Don't think there's any doubt that the final qualifying event running parallel with The King of the Hill at the same venue in December will be round robin format and don't think they'll have any real problems with scheduling the number of games/rounds necessary to reduce the field to 50 in a fair and reasonable manner.

However the logistics of fitting in up to 100 pre-qualifying events worldwide before then sems quite a different and potentially bigger problem. IPT have coped with most logistical problems so far and no doubt they will find the most practical way to solve that problem in due course.

Thats exactly how they will do it.
In a phone call with the IPT they confirmed that there will be exactly 100 qualifying tournaments (so in LV will compete about 265 players) and I was also told it will be in round robin format.
I don´t know how they will come to 50 remaining players though.

According to this page on the IPT website

http://www.internationalpooltour.com/ipt_content/event_schedule/default.asp

The 5th and 6th tournament in LasVegas Dec 12-17.

The 5th is called the "IPT 2007 Tour Qualifier". The players will be "IPT hopefuls including the bottom 50 ranked players from the 2006 season (who lose their tour cards)". The top 50 will earn 2007 tour cards.

The 6th is the KOH tournament whose entrants are the top 41 earners of the 2006 season.
