heard a buddy of mine talking about this the other day. said when he was in the service that they had a pool table in their rec area, and one guy was better than the rest, yet he lost most of the time.

he said he asked him how's come he usually lost when he played someone, and the guy responded with:

"It Makes Me Feel Bad To Beat Someone"

anybody ever had this same situation, or know of anyone who did? and how it could possibly be overcome?

I have nice-girl syndrome in general. It's what keeps me single.

Long, long ago when I did play, I didn't feel bad about beating guys. I did play a tournament where I played a girlfriend of one of the players and let her win a couple games. A road player beat me to win, but I choked because everyone wanted to watch.

if you want to hang out in an action type poolroom and gamble.you better lose the nice guy bit or you will stay broke.

honestly it depends on my mood and who i am playing.

If i am playing a kid for some cheap sets and i want him to continue to play i might dog a shot or two and let him win a game. I myself see no point in just smoking a kid when playing cheap sets. Plus its very discouraging as a newbie or young kid to get smoked. Plus then have a tendency to quit after a set. Now also if they do talk about quiting thats when i toss out weight for them.

Now if i am kinda pissy or mad about the way i was playing earlier in the day, i go no holds barred.

Now if i am just playing with a newbie, yea i dont mind dogging shots towards the end to let the other guy shoot. Cuz he hasta learn to shoot against better players someday.

My husband is always telling me that you have to 'throw the pigeons some crumbs'. If you play your game all the time and win, especially in a small location, you will cease to find players to play you. It works for him, but it just plain pisses me off. I would much rather lose a well play game, than win a game someone 'gave' to me. Push me, and I play better.
