The One Pocket Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that Fast Eddie’s Sports Bar and Grill, host of next week’s Carolina’s Open, has agreed to host the induction of Nick Varner into the One Pocket HOF. Fellow One Pocket legend Grady Mathews will be on hand to make the presentation to Nick on Wednesday evening, the second day of the One Pocket tournament.

Nick was one of the original players elected in the class of 2004 One Pocket Hall of Fame, but was unable to attend the banquet at the Derby City Classic last January due to a schedule conflict. He joins an all-star line-up of One Pocket tournament and action legends in the One Pocket Hall of Fame including:

Ronnie 'Fast Eddie' Allen
Jack 'Jersey Red' Breit
Billy 'Cornbread Red' Burge
Danny Di Liberto
Larry 'Boston Shorty' Johnson
Grady 'Professor' Mathews
Efren 'Bata' Reyes
Leonard 'Bugs' Rucker
Bill 'Weenie Beenie' Staton
Eddie 'Knoxville Bear' Taylor

Well-deserved congratulations go out to Nick!
A special thanks goes to Fast Eddie’s Sports Bar and Grill for making it possible to honor Nick at their popular event. The Carolina’s Open kicks off with the One Pocket division player’s meeting at noon on Tuesday September 6. The $5000 added One Pocket tourney is one of the premier regional events in the game. It is followed by the main event $20,000 added 9-ball which kicks off Thursday, and is expected to attract a stellar field of top players.

The One Pocket Hall of Fame is the creation of OnePocket.org, established for the purpose of recognizing those players, promoters and teachers that have contributed the most to the legacy of the game of One Pocket.

Way to nick God bless him .I met him 2 yrs ago He a REALY NICE GUY ...

It's hard to believe that the time for the 2005 Carolinas Open is already here, beginning this coming Tuesday, day after tomorrow!

Last night, we talked to Gene Hooker, one of the tournament promoters and owners of Fast Eddie's Bar and Grill, the venue site in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He said both tournaments, the one-pocket AND 9-ball, are filling up fast.

It is great to see Nick Varner being inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame. If there was ever a great one-hole player, it sure is Nick. He can execute some of the best safeties in the business, has the necessary patience, and knows how to WIN. Bravo to OnePocket.org for making this happen! :)

Amen to this... Nick is very deserved and is certainly joining some very elite company... Nick stopped by on his way through Hagerstown the other eveing as he has on several occasions on his way down I-70. Always a gentleman and always willing to take time to shoot a few games with "us commoners" LOL.

will there be adequate seating this year? last year was a complete mess......15 to get in the door, and there were maybe 20 seats.

I'm now completely bummed, Steve. We can't make it this year. :(

I tried everything I could to get out of an on-site work assignment beginning Tuesday, but couldn't find anyone to take my place. It's a same-day-delivery RUSH job, and JAM is the "Efren Reyes" of immediate turnaround transcripts.

With this tournament being so close to the U.S. Open time-wise, I know there is going to be an all-star cast of players. Last year, Scott Frost won the one-pocket tournament. I think David Guitterez of Texas was runner-up, and Brian Jones from Oklahoma (?) came in third.

One thing for sure, I know if OnePocket.org is there at the Carolinas Open, then those of us unfortunate souls who can't make it will be able to look forward to GREAT coverage of the event. :)

I remember my poor swollen feet! :(

I think they are supposed to get bleachers this year, from what I heard. I don't think they had anticipated the massive amounts of people who came to see the Carolinas Open last year. :p

The action is going to be SWEET, VAP! ;)

I also like the way the locals meet and greet the attendees, lots of cheer and PLENTY of good eatings. Who can forget the FREE buffet that Mrs. Hooker laid out last year. Then there were the locals who provided that Carolinean barbecue 24/7 right out front.

Last year's picture at the Carolinas Open: Sugar Shane, Kid Delicious, Frank, Dennis Hatch and his lady, each taking a load off their feet! You can almost hear Frank, as he's nestling in between Kid Delicious and Hatch, saying "Ahhhhhhh! :D
