No GLI posted today???

This is an educated guess as I'm not there and have no first hand knowledge:

The mathematical formulas they have to automatically compute the GLI are based on the number of matches of a complete round. If they post the GLI in the middle of a round, the numbers will be completely skewed. Furthermore, because the non-HOF players played fewer total matches than the "challengers", the skewing of scores before the end of a round will not be consistent from player to player.

I believe this is what happened between the first and second round. At the end of the first round, the remaining players had a certain GLI. But the next round, their GLI was completely different (even before a game was played), because the mathematical formula was based on the completion of the round.

If this is indeed the case, and I believe it to be so, showing the GLI's today BEFORE the round is completed, will just cause confusion because they will not be correct. They will only be correct once the round is completely finished.

In the future, this should be very easy to correct by changing the mathematical formulas. The number reported in the GLI index can be based on the total number of matches played UP TO THAT POINT, and not based on the total number of matches that will be played that round. This would keep all the numbers accurate at all times.
