No glue assembled cue?

Is it common to make a cue and hardly use any glue for joining parts together? Our repair shop got a cue which got loose, and no wonder: the forearm and the butt are not glued together, there is no slight trace of glue. Just a threaded tenon joint. The wood dried and it got loose.
I'm not questioning the cuemaker's work, but is it usual? Moreover, the phenolic pin (G10) is also not glued like I've been told (didn't see it myself). Weird, uh?
