No IPT Qualifier in Taiwan/Philippines

I was hoping they will stage even 1 out of the 25 qualifiers in either Philippines or Taiwan but I was wrong

I am sure there will be a lot of players and backers who will participate coz instead of paying for airfares/hotels and other travel related expenses, they'll just pay for the qualifying fee.

oh well...

It is unfortunate, I wonder how many rooms in the Philippines/Taiwan contacted the IPT in an effort to hold a qualifier? The language barrier had to be a problem for the Taiwanese and much of Asia.

Still Colin managed it and he speaks Australian!!!

I am not sure what has been done but they could have at least contacted the puyat's if they are planning to hold a qualifier in the Philippines. I am sure something must have come out of it..

Keep in mind, this is the "North American" Open...so they really should have no obiligation to set up qualifiers in other parts of the world.

Now if there were no qualifiers in Taiwan or the Philippines for the "World" Open, that would indeed be a travesty.

Crickey...Stone the crows ya flamin' wobigong:eek: ...:p
and in Chinese...Aiii you...ni shi sha gua!:D

There's also a qualifier in Japan, but I hope a few Asians come to the Shanghai qualifier I'm helping to organize.

Accommodation and living expenses are not too high here. I think we can get a hotel within walking distance to the club for about US$30-40 per night.

Also, I'll make sure any international players get some support / assistance with directions, finding food etc.

Might be a relatively easy qualifier as the local players haven't played much 8-ball at competition level.

I never suggested it is IPT's obligation to stage a qualifier in either the two countries since as you have said as well it is a "North American" open. I am just stating the fact the they could have at least stage 1, just 1, qualifier in either countries.

It is IPT's goal to be recognized around the world. The recent "king of the hill" shown all over the Philippines was a huge success. Why not perk up the interest further by staging a qualifier there. Another case is that there are few(?) Taiwanese players in the IPT -- except for Wu I do not think there were other Taiwanese who participated in the qualifier. For whatever reason (i.e. language barrier, money, backers, Visa) no other Taiwanese players even tried -- so why not stage a qualifier there to perk up the interest as well and entice more qualifiers in the future.
