I'm curious as to what the pool action is like in North Carolina, perticularly the Winson-Salem area. A possible move to the area might be in my future and I'm just wondering what's going on down there.

Thanks!

There is plenty of cheap action $100-$500 sets if you are not a world beater. Some pretty good players in that area as well. Bring your A game and some cash and you'll be set. If you are looking for a steer or better information than this you'll have to find someone else.

mostly 9ball and 1pocket on the big tables, 8ball in the bars. Like anywhere theres gonna be some decent action, mostly small action but you occasionally see someone playing big money sets or by the game. Greensboro, winston salem, raleigh and charlotte all have decent poolrooms and action.

not a ton of action or world beaters in the winston-salem or greensboro(i live in gboro) but plenty of cheap25-300 dollar sets of 9 ball or 1pocket to be had in plenty of poolrooms around here. tons of league play on bar boxes and 9 footers. just like everywhere else you have to be on the lookout for the occasional roadplayer.

I've been through Winstom-Salem many times on my way to Jacksonville. I've always thought it seemed like a really nice place.

As far as pool action goes. I have no clue.

No action here...pretty dead state overall

Not a lot of action to be had. People here will ask you for a spot even if they have never saw you in their life cause they think you are a road player. There's a few money players but they can really play. Seems Georgia is the biggest action state and NC has some games but usually the games are staked by someone other than the players if there is any substantial amount of money on it. North Carolina is a big state for leagues so more or less you got many more social players and so few gamblers and action players. Even tournaments with no handicap do not do well in NC. All those league players don't want to get any better and they won't dare spend 50 or 60 on an entry fee. Pretty Sad but I think it's like that alot of places. Why match up in pool when you can find a good hold'em game and not have to give up any spot???

Is Hooker still playing there?

You play out of breaktime @ friendly shopping center? I used to play there all the time. Back when Earl the Pearl practiced there. How are things over there these days?:)

In Winston-Salem Breaktime is the nicest with 15 Diamond tables. Not a lot of gambling action unless you set something up ahead of time. They have a good in-house Wednesday night league. More gambling goes on at Cue 'N Spirits Billiards and Creekside Billiards. Hope this helps.
