Not a bad little local tourney

Smokin Cue in Charlotte, NC has a weekly handicapped 9-ball tourney every Wednesday which includes a player auction and a 10-ball break n run raffle.

They usually cap it at 64, but since league is on break they have a few extra tables to utilize. Last night they drew 91 entrants including such notables as Stevie Moore, Tony Watson, Sam Monday, BJ Ussery, Norris Brady, Jeff Abernathy and several other very good local players.

If you had yourself in the auction and won the tourney you walked home with a hair over 1300. Not bad for a local handicapped event.

But the real reason everyone is turning out is the break n run raffle, which right now is at 10k, 1k per ball! They had 2 separate drawings each for 10k last night, BJ Ussery happened to win both draws- with a little help from all the ticket people were purchasing for him. In his first attempt he broke, pocketed 3 balls and was hooked on the 1. His 2nd attempt came up dry. A cool 3k for a break n run attempt is not too shabby in my book.

Just wanted to share some local pool news.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

That sounds cool. Side Pockets here in K.C. Has started a break and run pot. How long has yours been going to reach that much money? Ours is at around $85 a ball but has been steadily rising. I think it has helped their weekly tournament as well. It would be really cool to see ours get that high. How much are your tickets?

Can you explain how the break and run raffle works? Sounds like something my local tourney could use.

TIA
