I will run 7 balls and blow easy shape from the 7 ball to 8 ball and then have an very low percentage shot on the 9 ball its been happening week after week to me or if I do get a shot on the 9 I freaking miss it !! supper frustrated please help!

I'm not an instructor but it seems you are letting the 'pressure' build up. When going for the shape on the 8 you need to focus on that, the shape.

Get the ball before lined up & made in your mind before going down on the shot & then line up the shot but focus on the shape. You cna not give full attention to both. One first & the the other. Don't get TOO greedy and cross the line. Usually there is an angle from one line to another line that will do just fine, go for the middle of it or sometimes any where on one side of a line will be just fine but crossing that certain line will be 'death'. Don't go near that line.

Once on the money ball, see the shot well before you get down and then shoot it like it is any of the balls leading up to it & do not forget about still controlling the CB just as though you were setting up for another shot.

If you can go to a hall when it is not busy, ask for an exta 2 or 3 8 & 9 balls and shoot just them for as long as you can stand it. Do that as often as you can.

You have to treat the money ball like it is any other ball. once you get to it there should be no extra pressure. In fact it should be a release of pressure but not so much so that you take it for granted or stop focusing. There is still work to be done but it should not be exta work or extra pressure. Take your time like any other shot but not any real extra time but don't rush it any more than you would any other shot no matter how easy it appears.

Consider it a make or loose shot but do not kill yourself if you do mis. Often times you may get another shot at it.

I know some of what I have said may seem to be a contradiction, but that is a bit of the point, balance. You have to have a balanced approach. Every ball is a make or loose ball, even the first one. If you don't make the first one you loose too. Don;t get down on a shot until you have let go of the 'pressure' then just trust your self to execute the shot.

Good Luck with it,

I had the same problem. Then I started to slow down just a bit near the end of the rack to make sure I was doing everything properly.

bonniekue...Try this...take the 7, 8 & 9 by themselves. Toss them randomly on the table. Take b-i-h on the 7, and run the three balls in order. When you can do that successfully 15 out of 20 tries, add the 6. That should help you overcome the problem you're having.

+1...basically you are playing the 9 ball ghost (with less balls), but playing it starting with the last few instead of the first few. This is a pretty decent test on how well you are shooting. Don't cheat and add a ball if you aren't running out enough! GL

All previous advice is good. I know for me sometimes I let down my concentration as I get to the end of the rack, figured I solved all the hard problems and wove my way between the balls then oops - I leave a longer shot than I should, or overrun position, or get wrong sided, etc. If that's your issue, just need to work on maintaining your focus on those "easy" shots.

Doing the drill as Scott suggested would help with that as well. I play the 6 ball ghost all the time, and try to run out "perfectly" - proper side, cue ball where I intend, no difficult shots or banks, etc. You can do it that rigidly as well and start with 3 balls then add once you can get 15 out of 20. Tough to do with 6 or 7 balls with those caveats in place.

And as English said, if it's not lack of focus then it's mounting pressure. Again the 3/4 ball drill with the 6 or 7 - 9 will help with that as well.
