Got fired after 32 years as an early Christmas present so I guess I'm retired now. I plan to split my time alone in S.C. and in Chgo with my wife who will continue to bring home the bacon. In S.C. (2.5 hours northeast of Atlanta) we have a huge empty living room so it seems like I will have plenty of time and space to use a pool table. I have room for a nine footer but I'm thinking my limited pool acumen is better suited to an eight footer. Because it will be in the living room, I want it to be a nice piece of furniture. So here's my list of questions for a table that is installed for $3000 or less.
If I buy a new table, what are my best choices in moderately priced tables such as Spencer Marston, Legacy, etc?
Am I better off buying a used higher end table such as Olhausen, Beach, etc?
If I go used am I better off buying from a reputable reseller with delivery, installation and new cloth included or going private and contracting for these services myself?
How do I maximize my chances of receiving a quality used product if I can't see it in person?
FYI - I am leaning toward new which goes against my nature but I really do want a nice looking table that will have some longevity. I'm not nearly good enuf to demand a high performance table. If this were golf with which I am far more proficient, I would definitely take high performance vs good looks.
Thanx in advance for any help you can offer this conflicted, wanna be pool player.
