I watched the entirety of the 49 minute talk and am fully enlightened. Of course I was enlightened the first time this was presented in HS and again in College. And I remember the sliding chalk boards. The talker we had, derived all of the equations.
There were assumptions:
-The balls do not roll but slide. This is a biggie.
-The balls stick to each other after collision. Also a biggie.
Looks like everyone will have to tune in Wednesday to see how rolling balls react.
But the talk was good for what it was. And in your case, an example of humor.
For those preferring to read, might I suggest the 3 volume The Feynman Lectures on Physics that Richard Feynman put together. Commonly called the Red Book Series. He even derives logarithms in volume 1. You can use your local library World Catalog and request them.
This post would have been better placed and I am sure appreciated in the NPR section. And yes, I am a conservative.
Oh. Pool is much simpler and more complex that the talk.
