Now that's a pause

Bizarre thread
We have to forgive OP as he must be undergoing men-o-pause

Beautiful stroke. ..love the pause. I've recently become a big fan of it, it's really helped my game. Chris Melling, Ruben Bautista, Tony Dragon, and Buddy Hall all use(d) it to great effect. For me it really helps me gather my visualization of a successful shot and really helps my control, too.

West Point, how was your speed control using that stroke? not sure what your skill level is or playing time. But one of the things I mentioned was his calculated type of an approach, different to you average pro playing position. It felt like he had a formula, right up until he dogged that 9 ball, lol

I've been playing 30 years and would rate myself a solid B. I feel the pause has improved my control, too, but shot making was the biggest benefit by far.

His long pause on back swing appears to be from his eye pattern. When he starts his back stroke his eyes are on QB, then while he is paused he moves his eyes from QB to OB, after he has focused on OB he pull the trigger. Seems that is a normal pause for that eye pattern.
