OB-1 shaft diameter

I just got an OB- 1 and was wondering if it could be turned down to 12.25mm I thought I read somewhere that the wooden ferrule was thin walled. Would this make it more fragile? Thanks

the ferrule might be a concern but another would be how it would affect the taper and play. When i ordered my ob1 i wanted the it to be the dimensions of my favorite shaft which i gave to royce (12.3 at the ferrule to slowly gain in size to about 12.5 thru the playing taper). Royce had problems with those dimensions and said it would greatly effect how the shaft played because he used a ver specific taper to achieve the low deflection and high spin. So you may want to keep that in mind before you have it turned.

I visited Royce recently and he's actually making OB-1 shafts with a 12.2 diameter but a taper that feels more like a 12.75-13mm shaft.

Check with Royce instead of turning one of the 12.75's down is my opinion.
