Ob 1 Shaft - Opinions

Has anyone switched from Predator to OB-1?

I'm looking for comparisons because if they are similar I wouldn't be able to switch to one.
Is it closer to a standard maple shaft or Predator shaft?

Thanks,
Koop

Although I still stick on a Predator now and then, I mostly played with an OB-1. I like the sound/feel better than the Predator.

I have tried all of the big three OB 1, Predator 314 with Varney ferrule and new 314 factory stock and recently a Tiger X with factory sniper. I will say that I loved the predator both ways sold Varney the nearly new Tiger(He almost paid me but not in full) it is junk as far as I am concerned but the bright spot is factory OB 1 with medium Tallisman, wood ferrule 3/8 10 on Predator sneaky wood to wood joint. I have been looking for one for a old 6 point Shon this week and another 3/8 10 for backup just in case and they are lifetime warrantied as long as you leave it stock. Leonard

The OB-1 does seem to put more spin on the ball. And clearly it reduces deflection. It also feels a lot more solid than a Predator. But I don't use it.

I guess I've been playing for too long with my South West shafts. I love their firm, solid hit, and I've been unconsciously compensating for deflection for so long, shifting to the OB-1 made me second guess myself too often. I finally decided whatever benefits it might offer weren't worth the distraction. Moreover, though the OB-1 hits better than other low deflection shafts I've tried, it does not hit as well as my SW's.

Anyone want an OB-1 customized for a SW, send a PM.

Hi All, I use two Shafts Radial and 5/16x14 and plays great.Never change to another Shafts back.I little whippy but stiff and a great Feedback.
The third Shaft is now customized for my new ARTHUR Cue a 8 K Euro Cue
;-), If is finished I will share the Pics here. Awesome Cue.

Seems like a vast majority of respondents love the OB-1 shaft. It looks like I will have to buy one and try it for myself.

Something that keeps repeating is the extra spin or easier to put spin on the cue ball...I wonder how that works? Is that because of less deflection?

Thanks, Scott

Koop,

I switched to the OB-1 from a Predator shaft (after 9 years of using a Predator shaft) and I love it.

I play with an OB-1 shaft on a Schon butt, the deflection is basically the same as the 314 so if you have a 314 now and are considering a switch to the OB-1 shaft I believe you will like it (for the improved feel)

I also sell them on my website ;)

Hi Shane,

Thank you. That is exactly the information I was looking for.
While it is not for me I appreciate the info.
